Vintage Pinball Machine
When I think of the vintage pinball machines, I think of woodrail old machines that were manufactured in the 1960s and before. They were called because they woodrail pinballs wooden bars on the sides of the machine and a wooden frame around the rear window. I used homegrown woodrail pinball machine called "Gusher" that my dad bought me a bar in the late 60's to $ 200. I tell you, you could not find one like that now for that price!
If you are a little younger than me, you will see machines that came out in 1960 and 1970 to be the vintage pinball machines. This is the period when it was the king of pinball - before the coin-operated video game came out. One of my favorite vintage pinball machines of this era was called "King Kool". It was really a fun machine with double wings on each side. When I look back at photos of that machine, which seems so simple compared to modern machines in the last 10 or 15 years.
Back in the 1960s and early 1970s, all pinball machines were what were known as electromechanical or EM machines. Coils had turned to show the score, or lights displayed through the backglass. If you are looking for vintage pinball machines, we'd probably be talking about any of the machines that were built before 1977. In 1977, the advent of solid state or a pinball machine SS occurred, and the industry changed forever. Now, the circuit boards and digital displays took over.
Pinball machines are cool solid state, with its music and talk, but something about the old pinball machines vintage that can not be beat, with its reels spinning and bells and lights!
Are you a pinball wizard?
I know I am! There's nothing like the attraction of the silver ball, and lights and bells that pinball machines has to offer. In my opinion, video games are not comparable to pinball machines. Did you know that you can still find pinball machines used, even the old, in places like eBay? Now you can have one of your own pinball machine in your living room.
